Overview
Vector Result exposes two scalar inputs (X Component, Y Component) and outputs a 2D vector you can use as the value of a Point parameter.
Unlike animating a Point directly, here you can have fully independent behaviors for X and Y (e.g. X linear with time, Y a sine wave through Expression, X driven by a Probe...).
Where to find this modifier
- Right-click a 2D parameter (Point / Position) →
Modify With→Vector Result. - Creates a Vector Result node linked to the target parameter.
How it works
- X Component
- Scalar value feeding the X component of the vector. Can be linked to any slider, expression or modifier.
- Y Component
- Scalar value feeding Y. Independent of X.
- Output
- 2D vector (X, Y) feeding the target parameter.
Setup
Split 2D animation:
Position (Transform.Center) → Vector Result
X Component = Slider1 (animated linearly 0 → 100)
Y Component = Expression: 50 + math.sin(time * 0.1) * 20
= a position where X slides linearly and Y oscillates
Drive Position with two different Probes:
WaveformVis ─→ Probe (X = position X) ─┐

EnergyVis ─→ Probe (Y = position Y) ─┘

- X Component
- First component of the vector. Accepts: a fixed value, a linked slider, a Lua expression, another scalar modifier (Calculation, Expression, Probe).
- Y Component
- Second component. Fully independent of X.
- Output (read-only)
- Resulting 2D vector. Can be referenced with
VectorResult1.Outputfrom other expressions.
Use cases
- Independent X and Y animation - X linear with time, Y a sine oscillation = a stepped or wavy trajectory without animating a Point directly.
- Mixing two Trackers - take X from one tracker and Y from another = a hybrid trajectory.
- Audio-driven 2D motion - two Probes on audio visualizations (waveform for X, energy for Y) = a 2D position that reacts to the music.
- Splitting different logic - X driven by an exposed Slider, Y computed by a formula = a hybrid manual/automatic workflow.
- 2D Center animation - for Glow, Defocus, etc. whose center has to follow a complex, composable trajectory.
Tips
- 2D parameters only - Vector Result only works on Point parameters. For scalars, use Calculation or Expression.
- Link the inputs to modifiers - the real power comes when X and Y point to Calculation, Expression, Probe or Track.
- Neutral performance - it simply combines 2 scalars into a vector. No significant cost.
- Combine it with the Track modifier - Track on X (a horizontal subject) and Track on Y (a vertical subject) through Vector Result = a split 2D tracking mix.
- Chain them for complex formulas - X = Calculation A op B, Y = another chain = a modular workflow.
- For simple 2D animation (linear path, curve), prefer the Path modifier, which is built for that.
